Henrico 5k
One of my goals in life was to run races. Usually when I use the term race, I'm referring to autocrossing or some kind of automotive. Not this time--this time I mean running with my feet. It sucks. Its hard. And because its hard and it sucks, I've always put it off.
I decided when I got back from my international business trip that I've got to do the Monument Ave. 10K. My extreme buddies were encouraging me to sign up. I knew that once I signed up that I wasn't going to let the $30 go to waste. I knew I was going to train for it because I had to train for it, which in turn means that I'd get back in shape. The Henrico 5K fell 2 weeks before the M'nt Ave 10k, a perfect benchmarking race.
And 29 minutes ad 30 seconds after starting, I had completed my first real race. My time indicates that my 60-minute 10K estimation is probably near-accurate.
With respect to others, I'm faster behind the wheel than on foot and I'd rather be behind the wheel. But this is more healthy. That is not to say that I'm not going to race cars anymore; I am! I'm just comparing the two. I'm trying to talk my brother into doing the Muddy Buddy
